What is “locked power”? Simply put, it means that without the car owner’s consent, the car company uses OTA (over-the-air updates) remote upgrades or in-store system flashing to secretly alter the lower-level parameters of the battery’s BMS (Battery Management System), limiting the car’s charging capacity and reducing discharge power. This results in reduced range, slower charging, and decreased performance. The manufacturer stated this is done to optimize battery functionality and reduce the risk of spontaneous combustion, thus ensuring car owners’ safety.
