Ukraine is preparing for further talks with Trump envoys, Zelensky says

Ukraine ⁠is preparing for further talks with representatives of the ‌US president, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday.

“There will be ⁠more details tomorrow. ‌We will do everything we can ‌so that war ⁠does ⁠not remain the ‌only option for how events ‌unfold further. ‌It is ‌important that ⁠America shares many of our ⁠views on the situation,” Zelensky ‌said in ‌a televised statement.

Also on Sunday, Ukraine’s former ⁠defence minister Mykhailo ⁠Fedorov said he is ⁠seeking US investment for a defence technology fund.

In an interview with ‌the Financial Times that was published on Sunday, Fedorov said he is also seeking Western capital to build and manage weapons development companies that he ⁠said will help Kyiv resist Moscow.

The former defence minister did not say ‌whether he would benefit financially from ⁠the ⁠fund, nor did he give details ‌on his role overseeing it, according to the Financial Times.

Ukraine’s ‌new defence minister, Yevhenii Khmara, on Sunday said ‌Kyiv would seek to bring ⁠forward part of a €45 billion (US$52.1 billion) ⁠loan from the EU planned for next year, as well ‌as lobbying ‌allies for greater contributions and new countries that had not yet given.
