A study by China Agricultural University revealed a staggering figure: China has 87 million rural residents left behind, including 47 million left behind women. On paper, these women still have complete families. But in reality, many live like “living widows,” separated from their husbands for years. Their husbands often leave home to work in other cities and return only for a few days during the Lunar New Year. Over the years, these women have had to shoulder the entire burden of the household alone — farming, raising children, and caring for their children’s grandparents.
