Pair arrested in Hong Kong after 2 dead infants found in glass bottles inside flat

Hong Kong police arrested two residents on Friday after the bodies of two babies were found in separate glass bottles inside their flat, the Post learned

A source familiar with the case said the bodies of the two infants, who were less than a year old, were discovered at around 10am by a cleaner tasked by the flat owner to tidy up the premises at Mei Hang Building on Kai Man Path in Tuen Mun.

“The two cylindrical bottles measuring about 15cm [6 inches] in diameter and 30cm in height were found in a corner of the living room and covered with a long white towel,” the insider said. “The bodies were found in the bottles with unknown solution.”

He said a man and a woman were arrested in connection with the case. As of Friday night, both suspects were being held for questioning.

Police later said the man, 24, and the woman, 22, were arrested for preventing the burial of bodies.

Detectives from the New Territories North regional crime unit are handling the case.

According to the source, the flat was rented to a tenant for HK$8,500 a month for a two-year contract in December 2022, but the tenant had not made any payments for the past six months.

On Tuesday last week, the flat owner accompanied by a property agent went to the flat and asked the tenant to sign the necessary termination documents and move out.

The case came to light on Friday morning when the worker was asked to clean up the flat.

The source said the case was classified as dead bodies found and an autopsy would be carried out.
