Man found with knife wounds in lift before another falls to death at same Hong Kong block

Hong Kong police are investigating after a man with multiple knife wounds was found in a lift at a public housing block in Wong Tai Sin, seven minutes before another man was discovered to have fallen to his death at the same building.

Police received the first report at 7.19am on Saturday after the injured man was found inside a lift at Chiu Sin House in Upper Wong Tai Sin Estate.

The man, who had sustained several knife wounds, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. Police said he had been found by a building security guard.

At 7.26am, police received another report that a man had fallen from a height at the same building. He landed on a platform in the housing estate and was certified dead at the scene.

The force did not confirm whether the two men knew each other or whether the incidents were connected, saying the cases had not officially been combined.

The first case was classified as wounding and referred to the Wong Tai Sin district crime squad. The second was classified as suicide.
