News of a big $12 billion defense deal between Pakistan and China spread fast online recently. The story claimed it would change the skies over South Asia and reshape defense across the Middle East. People called it a historic agreement.
But two weeks after the announcement, something strange happened. No one has claimed the deal. China’s Defense Ministry, Foreign Ministry, and the main weapons export company have all stayed silent. Even Chinese financial news outlets listed three clear doubts. They have never heard of the HQ-19 system. The J-35 fighter jet is not in full production yet. And officials from both countries have not confirmed it.
