Hong Kong worker falls from 2-metre-high stage while dismantling Taiwanese band Mayday’s concert site, loses consciousness

A Hong Kong worker has fallen from a two-metre-high stage and lost consciousness while dismantling the site that Taiwanese band Mayday used for its final concert at the Central harbourfront.

Police said they were alerted to the incident at 5am on Friday.

Preliminary investigations showed the 20-year-old worker lost his footing and fell from the stage, which measured about two metres in height, a police spokesman said.

The unconscious worker was taken to Queen Mary Hospital in Pok Fu Lam for treatment.

The force has categorised the case as an industrial accident.

Taiwanese rock group Mayday wrapped up its seven-concert series on Thursday after being forced to postpone a show last week due to bad weather and a huge LED sphere installation catching fire.

The blaze struck a day after part of the band’s first performance was moved online and indoors amid heavy rain as the Observatory issued an amber rainstorm warning.
