Hong Kong man, 47, charged after customs officers seize HK$2.2 million worth of cannabis and crack cocaine
A 47-year-old Hong Kong man has been charged with drug trafficking after customs seized about HK$2.2 million (US$280,972) of cannabis and crack cocaine in a weekend bust.
The Customs and Excise Department said officers intercepted the 47-year-old man and found about 2.8kg (6.2lbs) of suspected cannabis buds in two plastic bags he was carrying.
Officers escorted him to his rented flat nearby for a search, and seized about 6.7kg of suspected cannabis buds, 30 grams of suspected crack cocaine and drug equipment.
He was arrested after customs mounted an operation in the Yuen Long area on Saturday night.

Officers seized about 20 grams of suspected cannabis buds in another Yuen Long flat rented by the man.
He was charged with three counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug and is expected to appear at Tuen Mun Court on Monday.
The maximum penalty for trafficking in a dangerous drug is a HK$5 million fine and life imprisonment.
Customs officers arrested two men who arrived at the airport from Canada on suspicion of smuggling cannabis buds worth HK$18 million into the city on March 10.
It was the largest marijuana trafficking case by a passenger detected at the airport in a decade.
