Hong Kong Doomed! 300 Firms in China, HK Face Sanctions for Secretly Exporting US Chips to Russia

Of these transactions, about 75% (that is, 1,774 transactions) were shipped from Hong Kong or mainland China, many by small to medium-sized companies, some of which were established after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. These transactions amounted to $570 million, showing a tenfold increase in U.S. chip exports to Russia from Hong Kong and China compared to the period before the conflict began.
Data from the Washington-based non-profit Silverado Policy Accelerator indicates that from March to December 2022, nearly 90% of the global chip exports to Russia came from mainland China and Hong Kong.
