China’s Real-Life GTA: EV Smashes Truck, Angry Driver Yells, “So Fake!”

On July 29th, Li Auto held a launch event for their all-electric SUV, the Li Auto i8. No one expected them to go this far—they really went all out! They showed a crash test video where the 2.6-ton Li i8 collided head-on at 100 km/h with an 8-ton Chenglong heavy-duty truck. It hit both the front and side, and the impact was intense!
In the video, the Li i8 performed like it had superhero powers. After the crash, the A, B, and C pillars, as well as the door beams, were completely undamaged. Nine airbags deployed all at once, the battery pack didn’t leak or catch fire, and the doors even unlocked automatically. The door handles popped out as if saying, “Hey, no problem, get out and relax for a bit!” Meanwhile, the Chenglong truck? Oh my goodness! Its four wheels went airborne, the cab separated from the cargo box, and the truck’s front end was completely stuck on the Li i8’s windshield!
