However, in response to Macron and von der Leyen, Xi Jinping stated that China’s new energy industry has made real progress in open competition and insisted that China does not have a problem with overcapacity. Regrettably, Xi made no concessions on the trade issues of concern to Europe. It is not hard to imagine that the future will see democratic nations joining forces to encircle China, leading the Chinese economy into a severe winter.
