China Sees Massive Worker Protests and Strikes as People Struggle to Afford Food

In the days surrounding China’s Labor Day, a wave of worker protests and strikes erupted nationwide. Many companies faced closures, layoffs, and owed wages due to government policies and economic downturn. Chinese workers, on the brink of breakdown, found themselves with little to no income. They struggled to afford even basic necessities. Consequently, they took to the streets, holding banners and fighting for their right to survive.
