The F-16V really lives up its reputation. Recently, photos released by Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense have shown just how impressive it is. From May 23 to 24, the People’s Liberation Army conducted military exercises around Taiwan, but not a single missile was fired. Instead, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense captured video footage of two PLA aircraft, a J-16 and an H-6, being locked on by Taiwan’s F-16V using the “Sniper” pod. This targeting method is quite stealthy, as the PLA pilots had no idea they were already sitting ducks. In a real combat scenario, they would have been taken out by Sidewinder air-to-air missiles long ago.
