Beauty queen Grace Chan files police report after son splashed at cinema over row

Hong Kong police are searching for a woman who allegedly splashed a “cream-like” liquid on the six‑year‑old son of actress and beauty queen Grace Chan Hoi‑lam at a cinema in Admiralty, following a dispute over the child’s behaviour during a movie screening.

A police source said on Tuesday that Chan, winner of the Miss Hong Kong 2013 pageant and wife of TVB actor Kevin Cheng Ka‑wing, filed a report with the force last Friday for splashing an “unknown liquid” on her son.

She was watching the summer blockbuster Spider‑Man: Brand New Day with her three sons, aged three, six and seven, at Pacific Place last Thursday afternoon.

On social media, an audience member said the children kept talking loudly, laughed and screamed throughout the film, prompting the user to repeatedly shush the boys even as their mother completely ignored them.

“Only when the lights came on at the end of the movie did I realise the mother was Grace Chan. As a celebrity, you don’t even know basic cinema etiquette and show zero respect for movies,” the viewer said.

The six‑year‑old was also said to have kicked the seat in front.
