On the afternoon of July 26, a sudden torrential downpour triggered a flash flood at the Shuangshimen Scenic Area in Weiyuan County, Gansu Province. Videos circulating online showed floodwaters mixed with large amounts of mud, massive rocks, and debris roaring down from upstream. The powerful current swept through the area, flipping and carrying away off-road vehicles and cars parked along the riverbed as if they were toys.
