A monkey caused fresh disruption to Hong Kong’s rail services on Friday morning after it was spotted on the tracks in Tsuen Wan station, a day after a similar incident during peak hours.
At 10.03am, the MTR Corporation said services on the Tsuen Wan line had to be adjusted after a monkey entered the track area, advising passengers to allow extra time for their journeys.
A photo released by the railway operator showed the monkey sitting on the tracks, facing dozens of passengers on the platform.
Officers from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, along with police, later removed the animal. Services resumed about 10 minutes later.
A South China Morning Post reporter observed that announcements about an “animal on the track” were played almost continuously in MTR stations.
On Thursday morning, a monkey made its way onto the tracks near Kowloon Bay station during peak hours, prompting trains on the Kwun Tong line to run at reduced speeds and extending journey times by five to eight minutes.
