Foreign Minister Penny Wong has not ruled out the possibility of Australia increasing its sea patrols in the South China Sea with the United States and Japan.
This comes after Beijing’s July 6 intercontinental missile test in the South Pacific that drew condemnation from the United states, Australia and other Pacific nations, including New Zealand, Tuvalu, and Fiji.
Speaking to reporters at the ASEAN Summit in Manila, Philippines, on July 22, Wong said that stability in the South China Sea is “critical” to the region’s stability.
