The House of Representatives failed on June 30 to advance the annual National Defense Authorization Act that included an election integrity bill.
The tally was 198–224. Fourteen Republicans joined all 210 Democrats in voting down what is known as a rule, which advances legislation.
This comes as Republican hardliners called on the Senate to take action on the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote, a photo ID for voting, and would restrict mail-in voting. The House has passed the legislation, while it has stalled in the Senate as it has failed to get the necessary 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. Some conservative House Republicans said they would not vote for the rule if there is no action on the elections bill.  …Â
