FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that he and President Donald Trump will deliver the World Cup trophy to the winning team following the championship match on July 19.
“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said on “Fox and Friends” on June 23.
Trump and Infantino handed out the trophy at last summer’s Club World Cup final, which was also played at MetLife Stadium, when Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3–0. The venue has been temporarily named New York New Jersey Stadium for the 2026 World Cup.
“I knew he was going to be here, but I didn’t know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy, so I was a bit confused,” Chelsea’s Cole Palmer said after the match….
