At around 6 p.m. on May 23, an enormous fire broke out at a warehouse of the Longrich daily chemical factory in Xinzhuang Town, in Changshu of Suzhou province. Videos showed towering flames engulfing the area, with thick smoke rising more than a dozen meters into the air. The night sky glowed red from the blaze, and even the nearby river reflected the firelight.
