Maduro Set to Return to US Court as He Fights Narco-Terrorism Charges

Former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro will reappear in a New York courtroom on March 26 as he attempts to get his drug trafficking indictment thrown out over an international dispute regarding his legal fees.
Maduro’s lawyer, Barry Pollack, argues that the United States violated the ousted leader’s constitutional rights by preventing the Venezuelan regime from using funds to cover his legal expenses.
“Mr. Maduro, as Venezuela’s head of state, has both a right and an expectation to have legal fees associated with these charges funded by the government of Venezuela,” Pollack wrote in papers he filed late last month….
