The District Court on Tuesday found Jenny Li Sui-heung guilty of perverting the course of justice for urging Alex Kwong Kong-chi to abscond, despite knowing that he was wanted by police for a 2015 theft case involving HK$6.3 million in gold and jewellery.
The court also ruled that Li had misled the theft investigation and asked Choi’s mother to remain silent if interviewed by detectives.
Choi was reported missing on February 22, 2023, before parts of the 28-year-old’s dismembered body were uncovered from a three-storey village house in Tai Po’s Lung Mei Tsuen two days later.
Alex Kwong, his father Kwong Kau and elder brother Anthony Kwong Kong-kit are currently behind bars awaiting a murder trial.
