Shing’s wife Michelle Chua revealed his death in the early hours on Monday, saying that he died peacefully at Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital in Happy Valley, surrounded by family.
“To all our dear friends and family, our light, James Shing, passed away peacefully at 12.37am on August 18, 2025, in the arms of his loved ones at Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital after 48 precious years,” Chua said on social media.
“At the time of his passing, he had a smile on his lips with relaxed eyebrows, as if resting on a cloud, untouched by pain.”
Shing was diagnosed with liver cancer in June, and his condition rapidly deteriorated, leading to his ongoing battle at the hospital’s intensive care unit.
