Firefighters rescued two workers left dangling on safety harnesses more than 30 storeys above ground outside a landmark skyscraper in Hong Kong’s Central district on Monday evening after their suspended working platform apparently malfunctioned.
The incident occurred at about 6.16pm at Jardine House on Connaught Road Central, where the two workers were carrying out external maintenance work from a gondola. One of the workers was left dangling for nearly 1½ hours before being rescued around 7.40pm.
Another rescuer from the Fire Services Department’s High Angle Rescue Team brought the other worker to the roof of the 52-storey building at about 8pm.
