China’s job market is under intense pressure in 2026. Two recent reports show just how bad it is. The delivery driver industry is severely oversupplied. Demand is around 4 million, but 20 million have joined, creating a supply-to-demand ratio of five to one. Many cities have started issuing warnings about saturated ride-hailing capacity. In Shenzhen, officials reported that in April, each of the roughly 400,000 ride-hailing drivers completed fewer than five trips per day. This signals a historic market collapse, leaving regular citizens with no fallback.
