White House Defends Doubling Tariffs on Canada; Funding Deadline Hangs in the Balance to Avoid Government Shutdown

President Donald Trump has announced he is doubling tariffs from 25 percent to 50 percent, effective from Wednesday, on Canadian steel and aluminum imports. Trump is meeting with the CEOs of several of America’s biggest companies on Tuesday.
