Three days after the inauguration of Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-de, the PLA’s Eastern Theater of Operations held the “Joint Sword-2024A” military drills around Taiwan for two consecutive days from May 23rd to 24th. It was massive and highly theatrical. However, during the same period, the Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration of China made a discreet announcement that a semi-submersible vessel had sunk in the East China Sea. As for the cause and whether there were casualties, the officials didn’t make it public. This is very strange. Why did such a large vessel sink during this period?
