“There may be a waterspout over the waters of Sai Kung at around 7.10pm,” it said.
Yeung Kwok-chung, the forecaster’s senior scientific officer, said the Observatory monitored the radar image of the area and spotted highly convective atmospheric conditions in the area.
“We, thus, issued a notice that there may be a waterspout over the waters of Sai Kung at around 7.10pm,” Yeung said.
A waterspout is a rapidly rotating columnar vortex containing water droplets, linking between the base of a convective cloud and the water surface.
