Cucumbers, which used to cost around 2 yuan per half kilo, are now selling for nearly 8 yuan. In some places, two cucumbers are priced at 10 yuan, and in others, eggplants are going for 15 yuan per half kilo—over five times their usual cost. The most surprising increase is with spinach, which has surged to 19 yuan per half kilo.
