U.S. forces hit or destroyed 10 Iranian mine-laying boats in the past few hours, President Donald Trump said on March 10.
In another post on his Truth Social platform, he warned Tehran that if its forces lay mines in the Hormuz Strait, “the military consequences to Iran will be at a level never seen before.”
“If Iran has put out any mines in the Hormuz Strait, and we have no reports of them doing so, we want them removed, IMMEDIATELY!” Trump said, demanding “if for any reason mines were placed” they would be “removed forthwith” or face intensified attacks.
The president’s comments came after reports first published by CBS News that Iranian small craft, capable of carrying two to three mines each, have been detected moving into the 100-mile waterway….
