WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump issued an executive order on Nov. 24 establishing the “Genesis Mission,” a national effort to leverage the federal government’s scientific data to fuel advanced computing and machine learning opportunities for the benefit of Americans.
The plan includes using data sets from the Department of Energy’s National Laboratory and other resources to foster scientific advancements.
“In this pivotal moment, the challenges we face require a historic national effort, comparable in urgency and ambition to the Manhattan Project that was instrumental to our victory in World War II and was a critical basis for the foundation of the Department of Energy and its national laboratories,” the order reads….
