The four vehicles – a seven-seater car, a taxi and two trucks – were travelling in the direction of Chai Wan on the expressway when the accident took place at around 2pm, police said.

But three of the vehicles began to slow down after spotting a roadworks truck straight ahead near the K Wah Centre in North Point.

Police said the fourth vehicle, one of the trucks, failed to brake in time and collided with the taxi, the seven-seater car and the second truck.

The driver of the first truck, a 35-year-old woman, became trapped in the severely damaged cabin of her vehicle and temporarily lost consciousness.
