Chan Siu-tat, Leung Yuk-yin, both aged 42, and Yeung Chun-ming, 48, pleaded guilty at the High Court on Monday for robbing So Mei-yan on November 24, 2020, before tying up the cosmetics businesswoman and her domestic helper at her flat.
Police later found the stolen goods in the defendants’ possession, with the recovered items including 19 luxury handbags, 70 pieces of jewellery, eight watches, a fur coat, five bank cards and HK$80,000 in cash, among other items.
The court heard that the robbers ransacked the victim’s master bedroom in under 10 minutes as Yeung warned So, a cosmetics company owner who enjoyed a social media following for her posts about luxury items, to cooperate to ensure her baby’s safety.
According to the summary of facts read out in court, Chan rented a flat opposite the victim’s home in One West Kowloon in Lai Chi Kok about two weeks before the robbery.
