On August 13, around 1:00 PM, Typhoon “Podul,” the 11th typhoon of the year, made landfall in the coastal area of Taimali Township, Taitung County, Taiwan. At that point, it had already reached the intensity of a strong typhoon, with winds near the center reaching 14 on the Beaufort scale (about 42 meters per second). The power of the storm was not to be underestimated.
However, just over 10 hours later, “Podul” made another landfall in the coastal area of Zhangpu County, Fujian Province. But by then, its strength had significantly weakened, dropping to a level of a strong tropical storm with winds reaching 11 on the Beaufort scale (about 30 meters per second).
