Top DOJ Official Lays Blame With Minnesota Officials, Says Shooting of Protester ‘Entirely Avoidable’

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche on Sunday responded to demands from local Minnesota Democratic officials after the shooting of a protester by federal immigration officials in the state.
“We feel a ton of sympathy for the family and friends of the deceased, but make no mistake about it, this was entirely avoidable if we had a governor, if we had a mayor, if we had leadership in Washington and over Minnesota that actually cared about their citizens, this would never have happened, because there would be law enforcement on the streets helping ICE,” Blanche told NBC News on Sunday morning.
Family members identified the man who was killed as Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old man who was involved in protests against federal immigration enforcement efforts in the city. After the shooting, an angry crowd gathered at the site and protesters clashed with immigration officers….
