The worst Mid-Autumn Festival, China’s economy in a downturn and people don’t eat mooncakes anymore

#Chinainsights

The Mid-Autumn Festival, held in August every year, is when Chinese people buy mooncakes to give to relatives and friends, or the whole family enjoys the moon and eats mooncakes together. This is a traditional custom of Chinese culture. The mooncake skin is made of flour, filled with fillings of various flavors, and then baked to make a dessert.

In previous years, every Mid-Autumn Festival was the peak season for mooncake sales, but there was a cliff-like plunge this year. No one buys the high-priced ones, and there are even mooncakes that cost 0.1 US dollars a piece.
