A Thai woman has warmed many hearts by comforting a stray dog startled by New Year fireworks, while raising concerns about the festive celebration’s possible risk to the health of animals.

On New Year’s eve, the woman, who uses the handle @mo_may_story on Tiktok, posted online that a dog ran into her arms for reassurance while fireworks exploded in the night sky.
She keeps patting the canine, who appears to be frightened by the fireworks in the video, which amassed 5 million views in five days.
She said she went to the open field for a better view of the New Year fireworks, and spotted the dog helplessly searching for a shelter.
Fearing that the dog might be hit by a car, she stopped her car and welcomed the animal into her arms.
She kept comforting the dog for about half an hour, until the fireworks ended. She said she could not let her go because her heart was “beating so fast”, and she appeared to be better when she left.
