The Hong Kong Observatory on Monday also said that the temperature difference between day and night over inland areas would be “rather large” by then.

“An intense winter monsoon is expected to reach the coast of southern China on Thursday. The weather will be cold in the morning in the latter part of this week and over the weekend,” it said.

“Under the influence of another easterly airstream, temperatures over the coast of Guangdong will rise slightly early to midweek next week.”

According to the latest nine-day forecast, temperatures will range between 15 to 20 degrees between Tuesday and Thursday, before plunging to 12 degrees on Friday and Saturday.
