A teacher in Hong Kong has been spared a criminal conviction for slapping her 13-year-old son during a heated dispute last year after entering into a three-year good behaviour bond.
The 35-year-old was bound over for HK$1,000 (US$128) at Kwun Tong Court on Wednesday for three years on a charge of assault by a person in charge of a child or young person.
Court documents identified her only as MBC and did not disclose her nationality. She was accused of slapping her son at their Sai Kung home on March 4, 2025.

Prosecutors told acting principal magistrate May Chung Ming-sun that they had reached an agreement with the defence and decided to close the case on the condition that the defendant admitted to the facts.
According to the facts read out in court, MBC had a dispute with her son over parenting issues that night. Security camera footage from their home showed her slapping the boy’s face several times.

The following day, the boy reported the incident to his school’s social worker, who alerted police.
