Funded by Sinopec and after months of planning to engage teachers and students, the brand-new, custom-made Sinopec Training Hub at the Hong Kong Sea School welcomed hundreds of guests at a recently held inaugurating ceremony.
The 400-square-metre hub occupies the ground floor of the school’s multi-purpose annex. Boasting a versatile configuration, it houses some three dozen equipment items and is all set to serve the school’s 700 students. The facilities can accommodate up to 50 students at a time under the watchful eye of a physical education teacher. Sinopec Training Hub is the first comprehensive physical fitness training centre in the school’s 78 years of history.
Also present at the ceremony were members of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Hong Kong Sea School’s incorporated management committee, and the management and staff members of Sinopec Hong Kong.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Jiang Zhenying, Deputy Chief Economist of Sinopec Group and Chief Representative of Sinopec Hong Kong Office, praised the contribution of the Hong Kong Sea School, noting that the school has nurtured talents for Hong Kong across industries and sectors. Jiang said the school has won its well-deserved reputation for being a reliable talent pool for the city’s maritime industry, the government’s various disciplinary forces, the local sports community, and across industries for decades.

He expects the Sinopec Training Hub to assist the school in developing a scientific and systematic physical training regime, facilitate the school’s physical education standard, promote the students’ health, and better prepare them for their future endeavors. Looking ahead, Jiang vows to go hand-in-hand with the broader community to support less privileged students.
