Hong Kong’s weather forecaster will lower the No 8 typhoon signal at 10.20am on Thursday, as Tropical Storm Toraji is set to weaken gradually and education authorities announce that classes of afternoon schools will resume.

“Classes of PM primary and secondary schools and evening schools will resume today,” the Education Bureau said.

Bourse operator Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing carried on business as usual during the storm for the first time since a new mechanism allowing trading amid typhoons and torrential rains came into force on September 23.

Chris Au Young, the Airport Authority’s general manager of terminal and passenger experience, said operations were expected to be largely normal for the rest of the day.
