Locker-room rage
Singapore’s acting sports minister came under fire after he was caught calling the Hong Kong men’s football team and their supporters “idiots” on a live stream in November.
He was speaking to Singapore’s team in the locker room after they beat Hong Kong 2-1 in an Asian Cup qualifier at Kai Tak Stadium.
“It was fantastic … you kena [Malay for hit] pressured by them, all the fans were bloody idiots, end up players also played like idiots [sic] … But you all played like lions,” Neo said.

His comments drew backlash on social media, with users saying his words showed poor sportsmanship.
Neo later retracted his comments and conceded that he “probably should have been more respectful”.

According to a spokeswoman from Hong Kong’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, Neo made a private apology to Rosanna Law, his Hong Kong counterpart, following the saga.
