“Shein takes note of the government’s announcement today,” a spokesperson for the group told the Post.

“We are committed to working with the French authorities to address any concerns swiftly, as we have always done, and we are seeking dialogue with the authorities and government bodies on this issue.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the French government announced that it is “initiating the procedure to suspend Shein” at the instruction of French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu.

The measure will remain in effect “for as long as necessary for the platform to demonstrate to the authorities that all of its content fully complies with French laws and regulations,” according to the government statement, which requested the relevant ministers provide an initial progress report within the next 48 hours.

Shein said that, independent of the PM’s announcement, the group has also decided to temporarily suspend listings from third-party vendors in its marketplace. At the same time, Shein “reviews and strengthens how third-party vendors operate” on the site, according to the spokesperson.
