Shein, Temu, and Aliexpress in Hot Water! Netherlands Starts Taxing Small Imported Packages

A spokesperson for the Dutch Ministry of Finance said that taxing all incoming packages would create a “fairer competitive environment for traditional trade.” This policy mainly targets Chinese e-commerce platforms like Shein, Temu, and AliExpress, which have greatly benefited from tax exemptions on low-value goods. Before, packages valued below 150 euros were exempt from taxes. The new rules are meant to change this to ensure that all imports are taxed fairly.
