Senate Democrats will bring a bill to a vote next week to extend enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits for three years, setting up a vote they say is the last chance to keep health insurance costs from jumping after Jan. 1.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on the floor on the afternoon of Dec. 4 that the measure is a “clean three-year extension of the current [Affordable Care Act] tax credits” and that every Democrat will vote for it.
The vote is planned for Thursday, Dec. 11.
“Why are we here?” Schumer told reporters later at a news conference alongside Sens. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), Peter Welch (D-Vt.), and Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.). “The country is standing on the edge of a health care cliff.”…
