The second of two dogs that went missing from Hong Kong’s Po Lin Monastery last month has been found, 10 days after the first was rescued.

The Buddhist monastery on Lantau Island announced that it had been notified by police on Saturday evening that a dog resembling Dai Mui had been located.
Dai Mui and Sai Mui – or “big sister” and “little sister” in Chinese – were allegedly taken from the monastery before being abandoned on a Lantau hillside. Sai Mui was found on September 11 along a catchwater near Sham Wat Road on the outlying island.

“After preliminary blood tests, she was taken to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty [SPCA] in Wan Chai to confirm that she is Dai Mui,” the monastery said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
“The SPCA has examined and treated Dai Mui and she has now returned to her original habitat at the temple and will continue to be observed and receive treatment in the future.”
