Search launched for Hong Kong man who went missing on Lamma Island on Thursday

Hong Kong authorities are searching for a 33-year-old man who went missing on Lamma Island on Thursday.

Chan Kai-hung was last seen at Yung Shue Wan Public Pier on the morning of July 25, and his family reported him missing to police on Saturday.

A police spokesman said the force and the Fire Services Department launched their search at about 4pm on Sunday in the area between Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wan, also known as Picnic Bay.

The circumstances of his disappearance were not yet known.

The weather over the weekend was poor, with an amber rainstorm warning issued on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Chan was wearing a short-sleeved red T-shirt, black trousers, black sports shoes and carrying a black rucksack.

He also had on a pair of black-rimmed glasses.

He is described as being 1.77 metres tall (5.8 feet), weighing 65kg (143lbs), with a round face and short black hair.

Police have appealed to the public to provide any information they have regarding Chan’s whereabouts or any sightings of him.
