President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that U.S. citizen and former Marine Robert Gilman will be returning to American soil after being imprisoned in Russia for the past four years.
“After my discussions with President Vladimir Putin, Russia has agreed to release him, very much on a Humanitarian Basis,” Trump said in an Aug. 11 White House X post. “We appreciate this decision, and the fact that Russia asked for no one in return—No exchange took place.”
