Republican Rep. Dan Newhouse Will Not Seek Reelection

Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.), will not seek reelection to the body in 2026, he announced on Dec. 17.
In a statement published on social media, Newhouse said he is stepping down “with confidence that there are now qualified and serious people expressing interest in this office.”
Newhouse, who represents Washington’s Fourth District, entered Congress in 2015 after a career in state politics.
He was one of the Republican members of Congress to vote to impeach President Donald Trump after the events of Jan. 6, 2021, and is one of two such members who still serve in the House, although Trump endorsed his opponents in successive primary contests….
