A source said a suspect wanted by police in connection with the case had fled the city.
Around midday, officers from the Hong Kong Island regional crime unit were seen carrying out an investigation in the park.
Another source said on Tuesday that police were treating the case as murder.
The insider said investigators would hold a press briefing to reveal further details.
